Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival at Bagdogra Airport and Drive to Gangtok.

  • Arrive at the Bagdogra Airport and drive 125 km. to Gangtok. The journey will take 4 hours. Alternatively, to make your journey more memorable, you can opt for a helicopter ride from Bagdogra to Gangtok, which takes 30 minutes to reach.
  • Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim, and well known as the land of monasteries. Located at an altitude of 1,670 meters above the sea level, the place offers scenic natural beauty. On the way, you will come across lush greenery, beautiful Rhododendron trees, Orchid flowers and colourful butterflies, which makes the entire journey an extremely mesmerizing experience.
  • Once you reach Gangtok, head towards the hotel and check in. Have your lunch, relax for some time and spend the entire day at leisure.
  • In the evening, you can stroll around the streets or visit some local shopping centers or mall for a delightful shopping experience.

Later head back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2 : Day Excursion to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir.

  • Begin your day with delicious breakfast at the hotel and get prepared for the excursion to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. Tsomgo Lake is 39 km. from Gangtok and going further 16 km. is Baba Mandir.

Situated at an elevation of 3,780 meters above the sea level, Tsomgo Lake is a popular attraction in Sikkim for its tranquil water and scenic beauty. This oval-shaped lake is covered with snow during most of the months. There is a small Lord Shiva temple on the banks of the lake, which is considered very holy by the locals. Bird watchers can enjoy the close view of Brahmini ducks and many other migratory birds near the lake. Moving further 16 km. you reach Baba Mandir. This temple is believed to be a wish-fulfilling temple and is a popular pilgrim center.

  • If time permits, you can also cover Nathu La Pass, which is 20 km. drive from Baba Mandir. This place is the border between India and China and connects the two countries.
  • While on the way back, visit Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary. It is spread across 31 square km. area and houses variety of alpine flowers like rhododendron, primulas, poppies, and magnolias. It is home to red panda, snow leopard, musk deer, mountain goat, Himalayan black bear and other wild animals. You can also spot a variety of birds like blood pheasants, snow partridges, laughing thrushes tree-creepers, warblers, rose finches, redstarts, minlas and much more.

Retire for the day and head back towards the hotel. Enjoy the comfortable overnight stay.

Day 3 : Local Sightseeing at Gangtok and transfer to Darjeeling.

  • Start your day by munching some hearty breakfast and proceed for local sightseeing at Gangtok.
  • Start your sightseeing tour by visiting Ban Jhakri Waterfall. Located in a landscaped park surrounded by forest area, this 100-foot long waterfall is worth visiting. The entire vicinity of the waterfalls is very scenic and lush.
  • Then proceed to Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre, where you can see art and craft skills of local artificers in the form of handmade blankets, hand-loomed carpets, elegant hand-carven folding tables, hand-painted masques, traditional paintings, wooden dolls, shawls and many other handicrafts.
  • Another popular attraction of Gangtok is Flower Exhibition Centre. It is truly a paradise for plant lovers. This beautiful tropical greenhouse is an absolute treat to the eyes. Around the months of March to June when orchids bloom in full, flower lovers from around the country visit this colourful place to see the wide variety of Orchids.
  • Later you proceed to Do DrulChortenStupa and get amazed by the intricate architecture and spiritual environment. Also, visit Institute of Tibetology on the way.

Then you check out from the hotel and proceed to Darjeeling. The total distance between Gangtok and Darjeeling is 115 km., which can be covered by 4 hours of drive. After reaching, check-in the hotel and overnight stay is arranged at the hotel.

Day 4 : Explore Darjeeling and Around.

  • Today you will start your day very early i.e. at 4 am. Pack your breakfast and drive 11 km. to Tiger hill.
  • The way to Tiger hill is very scenic and passes through dense oak and magnolia forests. Getting up early morning to visit Tiger hill is worth your efforts to experience the beautiful sunrise over Kanchenjunga Peak and Mount Everest. As the first rays hit the sky and peaks, view the sky changing colours and peaks painted in a golden shade.
  • Next, you head to other famous sightseeing places like Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. Ghoom Monastery is one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Darjeeling. Inside the monastery, you will find 15-foot tall idol of the Lord Buddha. After experiencing the spiritual ambience, visit Batasia Loop, which is a beautiful garden spread in 50,000 square feet area covered with perennial flowers and shrubs on both sides. Here you get the 360-degree panoramic view of Darjeeling’s landscape surrounded by snow-clad mountain peaks of Kanchenjunga and Eastern Himalayas from the toy train.
  • Post lunch, proceed to Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park. Animal lovers have a great time watching Red Panda, Snow Leopards, Siberian Tigers, Tibetan Wolf, Yaks and other species of Eastern Himalaya. For plant lovers, this places offers over 200 species of shrubs, climbers, plants and trees along with 60 variants of Orchids and over 110 years old oak trees.
  • Later visit Peace Pagoda and Japanese Temple to experience spirituality.
  • End this exciting day with a cable car ride at Rangeet Valley. From the cable car, enjoy the spectacular view of the valley below, see the beautiful tea gardens on the hill slopes, gushing waterfalls, flowing rivers, dense forests and a splendid view of snowcapped Eastern Himalayan ranges. After spending a lovely day, head back to the hotel and have a sound sleep.

Day 5 : Darjeeling to Bagdogra Airport and Departure.

This is the last day of your Gangtok and Darjeeling honeymoon package. Start your day with breakfast and then check out from the hotel. Drive back to Bagdogra Airport to catch your flight back home. The journey will take 3 hours to cover 98 km., so leave on time.
